Adult Small Groups of Hope Church

Each Hope Church Small Group welcomes guests and new members at any time - if one or more groups sound interesting to you, why not come to a meeting and see if you like it? Here are the Hope Church Small Groups (in alphabetical order):

  • Adult Ministry / Small Group Leader Class - led by Pastor Ken. This is a 3 session class leading towards Consecration as a Hope Church Small Group & Class Leader. Is God nudging you to lead a class or small group of your own? Do you just want to explore the possibility without committing yourself to leading a class just yet? Then this series of 3 classes in Group Dynamics and Christian Small Group development is just for you! Contact Pastor Ken to find out when the next class will begin.
  • Breakfast Small Group for Men - led by Geof Rader, meets the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 7:30am to 9am at Michael’s Diner in Douglassville. Over breakfast we solve the world's problems, share what's going on in our lives and discuss the theme of the week. The theme of the week is contained in a handout relating to one of 36 different topics that Christian men have to deal with. Each handout has one page reading for each day of the week and is written by contemporary Christian clergymen and/or authors.
  • Celebration Team - The Celebration Team meets every Monday night at 7pm at Hope Church to plan our worship services in the spoken word, music, visual and audio media, and creative arts. If you believe you may have a gift to share "on stage" or "back stage," come explore this ministry team!
  • Disciple Two Class - led by Pastor Ken; will be starting on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010, meeting in Room 3 from 6:30pm to 8pm. This is a further and deeper in-depth study (as compared to Disciple One) - it's a DVD-supported study over a one year time period. Equal attention is given to both the Old and New Testaments with concentration on four books: Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts. Contact Pastor Ken for additional information.
  • Hidden Keys Couples Study Group - led by Rick & Donna Merritt, meets every other Wednesday evening at their home beginning at 7PM. This is a small group for married couples and those soon-to-be married couples who are seeking God's direction and desire for a Godly relationship. Men and women are created differently. We are learning how to rejoice in our differences, while dealing with the challenges that will occur in any marriage. We enjoy fellowship time before and after our study/discussion some of which is based on Dennis and Barbara Rainey's Family Life material as well as other Christian sources. As always, we begin and end in prayer. (Hidden Keys meetings rotate every other Wednesday with the Tuff Stuff group - when one group is meeting, the other is "off").
  • Jolly Time Seniors - led by Fran Loughead, meets for lunch the 1st Tuesday of every month. We enjoy a packed lunch while we share a desert, prayer and devotion.
  • Loveknots - led by Verna & Herb Reigel, meets every Wednesday night from 7pm to 9pm at Hope Church in Room 8. This group is open to anyone of any age, and non-members are always welcomed. Loveknots was started as a support group and we still offer support and prayer to anyone who needs it. Studying the Bible is a big part of what our Loveknots group is all about.
  • Tuff Stuff - led by Rick Merritt, this group meets every other Wednesday evening starting at 6:30pm in Room 4. All are invited, no homework required, bring your Bible and join us for fellowship and Bible study as we read the Bible, book by book. Together we will gain better understandings of the books of the Bible, interpretation of God's Written Word, and its application to our daily life. (Tuff Stuff meetings rotate every other Wednesday with the Hidden Keys group - when one group is meeting, the other is "off").
  • Working Through The Word - led by Mike Mack, this group meets every Sunday evening from 6:30pm to 8pm. Ever wonder why scripture seems to speak to each of us in a different manner? Ever wonder how God is reaching others through a particular passage? This small group may help answer those questions. We are a discussion based Bible-study focusing on the New Testament, currently studying the Book of Matthew, Each participant is welcome to share or just listen and reflect on the comments of others. Please join us as we learn about God's Word and each other, through reference material and the perspective of our Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
