Pastor Ken's Weekly Devotions

April 1, 2007 ~ Matthew 21: 1-9

"Experience The Peace Of Jesus Christ This Easter Week!"

"Go and bring those donkey's there,
If someone asks, 'For Christ', you swear."
All this to make the promise true,
Of a King of Peace, and a friend for you.

And then they brought the mother and child,
And placed the Lord, so gentle and mild,
Upon the wobbly legs of the colt,
Under the King he would never bolt.

From Bethany to Jerusalem,
The crowds grow large as they see Him come,
A lone rider surrounded by sound,
Making none Himself as others pound,
With shouting voices upon the walls,
Of a city who wants Him not at all.

Palm branches wave, cloaks under foot,
Christ has come but they know not what,
Awaits this man on a donkey's foal,
In several days on Golgotha.

But we do, don't we? We know what awaited our Lord. The crowds would turn ugly, if they paid any attention to Him at all. They would have to wait a week to know what we've known all our lives: that Jesus bar Joseph, son of Mary and brother to James, the miracle working prophet who spoke peace to an angry world would have to die so that they, and you, and I might live.

All of the arguments about which tomb Mary was buried in; whether or Joseph's family & Mary Magdalene were buried in the one most recently argued by the treasure hunters of the Discovery Channel; whether Jesus had a child that grew up in France and founded the Merovingian royal line; why a loving God would see His own Son placed upon a cross to die a horrible death; all these questions fade as we see the historically accepted fact that this man called Jesus arrived in Jerusalem, despite serious warnings from friends to stay away, and would die on the Rock of the Skull, Golgotha, less than a full week later.

The only question that remains; the only one that really matters at all, is if you have come to know this Jesus, or not.

I pray that if you must answer this question in the negative that you will contact me, or another trusted Christian friend this week. Meet to talk. Discover why I, or they, call Jesus FRIEND. Please, brother or sister, do not let another Easter go by without knowing the one you sing about, or whose name is but a curse word to you now.

He's waiting to hear your voice, and so am I.

May you experience the peace of Jesus Christ this Easter Week!
